RT update!
OMG!! Can we spell overwhelmed??? Gosh, I’m almost speechless. (Notice the word almost?) It’s taken me two days to decompress but I think I’m finally able to tell all. LOL
First our resort wasn’t so resorty if you know what I mean. Second our high speed internet access was on par with dial up. It was very frustrating trying to get things up on the net and even pulling down emails was a pain. I took lots of pix and I’ll slowly add them to the RT 09 Pix page, go check ‘em out.
Getting to finally meet in person with Nicole Austin was the best thing! She picked me up in Roxie (her car) and she had her author magnets stuck on the doors. Too good. We talked the guy behind the counter to put us in rooms close together. Wasn’t hard once I opened my mouth he wanted to know where I was from and the look on his face when I said Singapore was priceless.

Nic has 4 different magnets but this guy's my fave.
I met some authors I’ve reviewed under my ‘other’ me and I have to say it was nice getting to see the faces of the women behind the books. I got to meet Annmarie McKenna, Leila Brown, Mackenzie McKade, KyAnn Waters, Christine d’Abo, Elle Amery (my room mate), Beth Williamson, Karin Tabke, Ciana Stone, Sahara Kelly, Stella Price, Heather Graham, Samantha Gail, Dana Marie Bell, Keri Arthur, Lauren Dane, Amanda McIntyre and Rita Herron to name a few. I managed to meet Angela James. Who sounds so sweet you would never think she’d have the nerve to rip apart someones book. LOL I’ll be getting to meet with her again at the Lori Foster weekend.
I went a little crazy at the book signing. Came away with a $90 credit charge. *gulp* Hubby said that was fine, he thought I was gonna say $900!! Wish he’d told me that before it was over. LOL The highlight would have to be getting an ARC from Rita Herron. I reviewed Insatiable Desire, the first in The Demonborn series and so I made the point of hunting her down when I knew she was going to be there. (Nobody mention the word stalker! LOL) Anyway, I told her how I was a fan of her suspense books for years and that I’d reviewed Insatiable Desire and how much I loved it even though I’m not into demons and she asked if I wanted to read the second book, Dark Hunger. Um…. YEAH!!!!! So not only do I have an ARC of a book that isn’t out until August but she signed it!!!! Serious crazy fangirl moment going on but I managed to restrain myself long enough to walk away before jumping around like a two year old on sugar.
The sad part was saying goodbye. I got to talk with so many great authors over the week and they all were so nice and welcoming and for someone who is so far removed from the writing world I learned a lot. I had the pleasure of sharing the shuttle ride to the airport with Beth Williamson. She’d giving me this gorgeous little bracelet at the book signing that her Hubby made (he’s very talented) and it has a cowboy boot and hat as well as a horse shoe and these gorgeous beads. I love it! I’m wearing it all the time. She was so lovely. I’m sure I was annoying with my accent and all my talking but well you know, fangirl moments were aplenty. LOL
I’m at Mari Carr’s now and enjoying finally being able to talk to her face to face. We laughed non stop the night I got here and we’ve been sitting in her office (aka dinning room) talking and emailing. Her Hubby just keeps shaking his head and laughing at us. We haven’t got much work done, I guess we’re just a little excited to be together.
Okay stuff to do, books to write. LOL If I can stop talking to Mari long enough to type. Or stop giggling, we’re doing a lot of that. Friday I’m headed to New York City where I’ll be hooking up with Hubby. Yay! Hopefully now I’ve got decent internet connection I’ll be able to blog more but I’m up dating twitter so you can catch me there. www.twitter.com/RhianCahill
