Today it’s Mari Carr in the spotlight.

Mari is not only a great author, she’s one of my best friends. Earlier this year I took the trip of a lifetime to the US to attend a couple of conferences and visit my CP who I’d met online one year before. We’d never met in person but we’d seen pix so I knew it wouldn’t be a problem finding her at the airport when I arrived. Now there was little concern, I mean I was going to be staying with a stranger really but I wasn’t too worried and believe me, the second we met face to face any and all fears went right out the window. I don’t think either of us drew a breath on the hour journey to her house we talked that much. She’s like the other side of me. It’s funny cause she has some similar characteristics as my Hubby and I’ve got some similar to hers. LOL We think the same way on so many things, we get the same jokes and neither of us is a girly-girl. Two peas in a pod really. She’s helped me grow as an author and I’ve helped her and we can say the hard stuff without worrying about upsetting each other. I will treasure the day I found the guts to email her about becoming CP’s for the rest of my life. It was definitely one of those rare times in life where everything just clicks. I can’t tell you how empty my life would be without her in it.

Vivian Arend’s Cowboy Countdown!

Vivian Arend is hosting a Cowboy Countdown Contest and she’s popped in today to ask us to join her in getting ready for her latest release, Rocky Mountain Heat comingAugust 31st to Liquid Silver Books. And she’s got a question for us:

Have you ever seen a real cowboy?

That would depend on what you mean by seen Vivian. Or what you mean by real. I’m partial to the odd cowboy or two and I have to say I’ve downed more than my fair share. What? Oh, you mean men not the alcohol shot. Right, well I’m not sure I want to share that info. *grin*

Welcome to the Six Pack Ranch, where one sweet young thing plus the Coleman boys equals trouble with a capital T.

Six Pack Ranch, Book 1

Blake Coleman is old enough to know that acting on impulse causes nothing but a heap of trouble. But when trouble’s a blonde wearing a cowboy hat with slim legs that go on forever, what’s a man to do? Wanting the sweet girl next door is just wrong. Hell, he was the one that taught her to ride a horse and now all he can think about is riding her. The responsible thing to do is keep his hands off.

Jaxi has other plans for his hands, and his heart. She may have considered Blake a big brother once but that was a long time ago. She’s all grown up now and ready to convince him that she’s just what he’s been waiting for.

Add the complication of two sexy younger brothers who have suddenly noticed Jaxi and things heat up fast. Blake’s gonna have to decide if a little trouble is worth fighting for.

Answer the question in the comments to be entered to win the prize in the Cowboy Countdown. For more info you can also visit Where Dreams Become Reality.

Writing, contests and fixed PC’s.

First let me point you to a great contest my CP is running in the lead up to her next release. Vivian Arend is doing a Cowboy Countdown to her Rocky Mountain Heat release. Visit her BLOG to see what’s happening. Oh and I’m part of it so you better come back and see how on Saturday. *wink*

If you ducked over to see my post at International Heat this week you’ll know that my PC crashed on Tuesday. With over 4k of unbacked up work. Ugh! Anyway, the good news is the PC is back and it’s all fixed and all work was saved. Yay!

So, anyone notice the word count meter on the sidebar to the right? Yep, Quinn and Rowan have me writing up a storm and are well on their way to THE END. Except it’s looking like the end might be a little bit past the 30k mark. *shrug* I’m going with the flow and see what happens but I’ve got too many scenes in my head to fit into the word count left. *sigh* I’ll just have to see what happens when I’m done.

e-book-adict

T from Ebook Addict is in the spotlight this week. T runs a review site and as I’m a reviewer in my other life I know how hard review writing is. There’s no way I’d be able to do what T does. I do a couple of reviews and hand them over and someone else does all the posting. T on the other hand is a one woman review machine, she reviews, interviews, posts, runs contests, she’s always doing something for the thing she loves most. She definitely got the name of her review site right. She is more than an ebook addict, she’s passionate about the authors too. Always the first to help when you need help with promoting a new book or a contest. Plus as a fellow member of International Heat T is a friend I cherish. I had some personal health issues recently and T cheered me up by sending me a gorgeous Kama Sutra Journal. There is was in my mail box right when I need cheering the most. She’s a great friend and my days wouldn’t be complete without some T time.

Hop over to T’s blog and check out her reviews.

Edits, edits and more edits.

Don’t you just love this part? LOL I can hear groaning and cheering for this wonderful part of writing. Personally I’m a bit of a fence sitter. I love and I hate them, but they’re a neccessary evil on the road to published story so I’ll be getting them done. Pronto! In case you haven’t guessed, I’ve got edits for Singapore Fling. Yay! Still don’t have a release date but this means it’s closer to being here!! Exciting stuff. As soon as I get any news I’ll let you all know.

In other writing news, I’m moving along nicely with the shifters. Quinn and Rowan took a while to really show me what was going on, it’s been nearly a year since I started their story but they weren’t talking very loud and Brogan and El took over. But now we’re on a roll and as soon as those edits are done it’s back to some one-on-one time with Quinn and Rowan. Yes, that type of one-on-one time. *grin*

In the spotlight this week is Aussie author Jess Dee.

What can I say about Jess?? Ummm…. Well she’s not against the idea of enjoying a little champers with our chrissie lunch. She talks a mile a minute. Oh, no wait, that’s me! LOL  Back to Jess. I first ‘discovered’ Jess by accident. She was on the Samhain Cafe loop chatting away when I realized she was an Aussie!! I’m an Aussie so it stands to reason that I should know allllllll….. about this fellow writer. The Friendship Gods must have been smiling because during that discussion the wonderful Viv ‘discovered’ me and she was already talking to Jess so things kind of steamrolled from there and then suddenly I’m emailing with Jess and we’re discussing getting together for lunch a Christmas when I’m finally on home soil for a month. That lunch, shared with the lovely Caitlyn Nicholas, was the beginning of a beautiful friendship. Jess isn’t afraid to tell you how it is, or throw out a one liner that has you in stitches for hours. I’ve so enjoyed knowing her that while in Sydney for a week last month I rang to see if she was up for a bit of lunch. School holidays be damned, she dropped everything to come and spend a few hours talking shop. Ok fine, I did the talking and she listened. But I’m missing the point, she is a fabulous friend and an even more fabulous writer. Last week saw her novella A Question of Trust release in the print anthology Three’s Company. And this week her story Circle of Friends: Steve’s Story is up for Best Book of the Week at Whipped Cream Reviews. Vote for Jess’s book Circle of Friends: Steve’s Story HERE!

Make sure you check out all Jess’s books HERE!

My personal fave is Ask Adam. And no it’s not because I have an autographed copy sitting right by my desk. *grin*

Ask Adam

Ask Adam

Can one wild night of passion turn into the romance of a lifetime?

Lexi Tanner’s got a major problem: AJ Riley, the man she’s about to approach for a hefty donation, turns out to be the stranger she shared a night of steamy sex with less than a week past. She’ll do anything to raise money for a children’s charity—anything except sell herself. Now how can she ask AJ for money without it seeming like he’s paying for sexual favors?

If there’s one thing the past has taught Adam “AJ” Riley, it’s that loving someone can only lead to pain. He knows he shouldn’t feel so attracted to Lexi, and he definitely shouldn’t trust a woman who’d sleep with a man one week and approach him for money the next. Yet somehow Lexi breaks through all his barriers. His instincts tell him to run but his heart wants to give Lexi—and love—a second chance. How can he let go of his tragic past and still protect his battered heart?

Warning, this title contains the following: steamy sex, graphic language and red-hot romance.

So I’ve been having issues with our family blog for months now. On and off it’ll let me add pix but lately it’s been completely off! *pout* Anyway, today I ended up getting Son#1 to upload google chrome in a bit to solve what has been a constant battle with any blogger blog over the last few months. I’m liking the look and the ease with which I’m getting to know all the in’s and out’s. I’m very pleased to say I’m happy with it so far. Did it fix my blogger issues? Ah, no. LOL That turned out to be an problem with our internet provider, BUT I did go onto the blogger forum and discover I wasn’t the only one with the problem. I also found out how to fix it! *grin* AND I fixed it! *very big grin* Then I fixed the issue I had with picasa not uploading pix to blogger. I got brave you see. THEN I decided there was no time like the present to try tweetdeck. I’m impressed with my level of skill so far today. I’m still tweaking the tweetdeck but hell, I think I’ve got it all under conrtol. For now anyway. LOL

On the writing front I’ve been dragging the words out for days now and it doesn’t look like they want to come easy anytime soon. *sigh* It’s Firday evening here and I’m not sure what our plans are for the weekend but I do know Monday is a public hol and The Kid has Tuesday and Wednesday off too!! I’ll need something to distract him with. Any suggestions? I could always take Mini-stud down to the cable ski park and let him wakeboard for hours. Win, win I think.

Okay, back to playing with my new toys and maybe some writing.

New Releases!!

2009 August 5
by RC

OMG! Can you hear my credit card screaming?? August 4th was a bad day for the book budget. *sigh* Oh well, who cares! LOL

So August 4th saw my CP, Mari Carr, release her first print book with Samhain Publishing. Yay Mari! My close friends and fellow International Heat members, Jayne Rylon and Jess Dee saw their novellas released in the Three’s Company Anthology from Samhain Publishing AND my good friend Annmarie McKenna’s novella Bridging The Gap also released from Samhain Publishing. Good thing all these great books were in one place. Let’s start with Annmarie’s book, which I read last night and couldn’t put down!

BridgingTheGap

Bridging The Gap by Annmarie McKenna

The higher she climbs, the harder he falls…

Carter Malone is usually the first one to make tracks before a woman starts getting any ideas. Permanent relationships don’t fit into his personal blueprint. Now, for the first time in his life, he’s burning up the sheets with a woman who makes him think about something more permanent…like spending the night. But she’s holding something back, something he can’t quite pin down.

As a woman in a man’s world, Ryan Cooper is used to wearing a target on her back—and hiding her vulnerabilities. She hasn’t let anything, not even the ever-present threat of an epileptic seizure, stop her from working her butt off to get the foreman’s job with her stepfather’s construction company. Then she discovers the guy she’s been dating—okay, having the hottest sex of her life with—is the architect who designed the building she’ll be overseeing. The last thing she needs is anyone thinking she slept with Carter to get the job.

Or worse, feeling sorry for her.

Before the dust clears, things get a lot more complicated. The previous foreman’s injury was no accident, and whoever caused it is taking aim—at the target on Ryan’s back.

Warning: This book contains almost fully clothed sex with a little bit o’ spanking on an OCD-clean desk inside a construction trailer, a rogue set of pencils that just won’t take stay for an answer, and sweet loving in a tub.

There’s nothing hotter than a forbidden fantasy come true…

Tequila Truth (click on title to purchase individual novella)

The rules of Tequila Truth are simple. Shots are poured, a question asked, and only absolute truth can be the answer. Kylie Halston has been playing the game with her roommates, Colt and Heath, since college.

Then an innocent question forces Kylie to reveal her hottest fantasy—a ménage a trois with two men, complete with bondage and a bit of spanking for good measure. Colt and Heath are only too willing to make Kylie’s fantasies come true. The only question is, come Monday, will their platonic relationship survive the passion?

Erotic Research (click on title to purchase individual novella)

Romance writer Julia Martin tells herself her pizza “dates” with her too-hot-for-words editor, Ross Philips, are more than enough for her. Ross has secretly lusted after his shy best friend for years, but fears his strong sexual desires would be too much for her.

When her cat dies and her depression halts her writing, Ross suggests a change to bring her out of her doldrums—try writing erotica. And, being such a good friend and editor, he even offers to help with her research.

Warning, this title contains the following: explicit sex, spanking, bondage, ménage, graphic language and all sorts of fun stuff.
